Seattle Photography -- Eric Stenberg Photography

Today marks the anniversary of something pretty damn special to Nat and myself. Yes, our wedding anniversary was just a couple of days ago, but exactly one year ago was the beginning of our southbound travels for our unbelievably awesome honeymoon; the honeymoon that introduced us to two of the best things EVER...the world's finest cupcakes, and Seattle.

Just a few pics for today...more to follow soon!

In Bellingham, Washington (about an hour south of the 49th) there exists a small historical district known as Fairhaven. If you've watched Gilmore Girls, you can think of it as the west coast equivalent of Stars Hollow. The biggest difference between the two is that Stars Hollow wishes it had a bakery the likes of Katie's Cupcakes.

About an hour south of Bellingham lies our favourite city...Seattle. Nat and I stayed at the Edgewater Hotel on a whim, mostly influenced by it's proximity to Pike Place Market. We were beyond delighted with it! Close to everything, and the area was breathtaking!

Unlike here in Calgary, the leaves turn red in the fall and actually stay on the trees...almost until Xmas!

Post Alley at night...

The Market Theatre "gum wall" in Post Alley. Hygenic? Not even close. Neato? Hell yes...as long as you don't think too hard about it...

Fortune & Sean - Calgary Wedding Photography

As per usual, I'm WAAAAY behind on my blog posts. In a few days I'll be heading away to sunny California for a few weeks so I'm under strict orders (from myself) to fill in all the missing posts from the last couple of months!

So, to begin, Nat and I had the honour of shooting Fortune (super awesome owner of LiveBreathYoga) and Sean's fabulous wedding a couple of weeks ago. When Fortune approached us about shooting their wedding, she was very quick to mention that it would be a 30's themed shinding, and would take place in the über-hip Concept Lounge on 17th.

And it would all happen at night.

So...some of the swankiest fashion in the last 100 years, plus an urban-styled underground bar, combined with the night lights of 17th Ave and some of the coolest people we've ever met...

...we couldn't have resisted if we'd tried!

Remember to click on the pics for larger sizes.

The local papparazzi doing what they do best, while the star of the show bravely smiles through it all...

A little bicep-kissin' action...

In case it wasn't immediately apparent, the tremendously serious (stoic even...) happy couple and their equally serious friends occasionally like to get a little silly. But only occasionally.......

I believe Fortune was trying to prove that her Kung Fu was stronger than Michelle's...

Thanks again to both of you for putting up with everything we asked you to do outside in the cold! I know you had as much fun as we did though!

Oh, and I believe I promised Jeff I'd animate this for him...

Calgary Tattoo Photography -- Ryan

So after years and years of indecision (and by that, I mean one or two...), my hetero life-mate Ryan finally bit the bullet and got his first tattoo! Welcome to the fold, my friend. :)

As per usual, click the photos for a larger version...

And now...the process...

"Ex Historia Veritas"
Latin for "From history, truth". Poetic considering Ryan is a history buff and is en route to becoming a shaper of young minds...

Calgary Wedding Photography -- Mel & Dave

I'm back on the blog!

Mel and Dave are something of a unique couple. Why? Well, they met on the internet, but it wasn't a dating site. It was an online forum for lovers of all things Mitsubishi! The live together, they love together, and...they tune their cars together! A couple after my own heart!

Oh yeah...Mel is also a Rollergirl. Sweet.

As per usual, click on the photos to see the larger version.

I don't know if I've ever seen a grandma more proud...

I also didn't know that lacing up the bride's dress was in the photographer's job description! Do I know how to lace up a corset or what? :)

Pinning boutonnieres is also my wedding-day duty!

Did I mention how awesome these two are? In proper techno-geek fashion, Dave read his vows off a Kobo eReader, and Mel read hers off her Blackberry! I love it!

Music-trivia based drinking games...at a wedding?!?! Again, with the awesome!

And to top it all off, DJs in full YMCA ensemble!

Thank you so much for letting Nat and I capture your big day! We're looking forward to seeing Mel in action in the roller derby rink soon!
